  • Extreme Weather Update: Keeping Our Children Safe and Comfortable

    Dear Parents and Carers,

With the extreme hot weather forecast for this week, we want to reassure you that our top priority is the health, safety, and well-being of all our children. We are closely monitoring the temperatures and adjusting our daily school routines accordingly.

To ensure your child stays safe and comfortable during the school day, we kindly ask for your cooperation with the following safeguarding measures, starting tomorrow:

Sunhats: Please ensure your child comes to school with a named sunhat or cap every day.
Water Bottles: Every child must bring a refillable water bottle to school. We will be providing regular opportunities throughout the day for children to refill their bottles and stay hydrated.
Sunscreen: Please apply a high-factor, 24-hour sun cream to your child before they arrive at school in the morning. School staff are unable to apply sunscreen during the day, so this morning application is crucial for their protection.
Restricted Time Outdoors: We will be limiting the amount of time children spend outside during lunchtime and break times. On the hottest days, we will move to "indoor play" or utilise shaded areas of the school to keep the children out of direct midday sun.

    • Fans in teaching areas.
    •
    • School ties can be removed once in school with top buttons undone.
    •
    • We do have water sprays in school to add a little more comfort during the day.

    Booked activities have been cancelled:

    • Yr 6 trip to St Georges Cathedral due to planned travel by train to London
    • Gaelic Football Festival
    • Sutton Borough Athletic Tournament

Year 1 trip to Hobbledown will continue with adjustments to planned activities. Children will be asked to wear school PE kit

The school will keep to normal opening hours this week.

We will also be keeping classrooms as ventilated and cool as possible, and encouraging low-energy activities.

Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school community safe. If your child has any specific health conditions that may be aggravated by the heat, please do not hesitate to contact their class teacher or the school office.

    Kind regards

    Mrs S Hulme,

    Executive Headteacher
