Nursery Admissions 

Admissions Information - Nursery

St Mary’s is a Voluntary Aided Federation in the Archdiocese of Southwark. It was opened to serve the Catholic community, in particular, the children of practising Catholic families living in the parishes of Holy Cross, Carshalton, Our Lady of the Rosary, Sutton, St Margaret’s, Carshalton Beeches, and Holy Family, Sutton Green.

Parents elect to apply for this school in order to ensure that the Catholic values and way of life are passed on to their children at home, in the parish and at school.

St. Mary's Catholic Infant school admit up to 52 children into nursery - this could be either 26 morning places,or 26 all day places for those children entitled to the extended 30 hour provision or a combination of all.

15 Hours per week nursery placements

AM nursery place's is 15 hours per week. This will be 3 hours from 8.35am – 11.35am, Monday – Friday, term time only.

PM nursery place's is 15 hours per week. This will be 3 hours from 12.15pm – 15.15pm, Monday – Friday, term time only.

Please note we do not offer a lunchtime provision for 15 hours Nursery placements.

30 Hours per week nursery placements

Recent DFE guidance to provide a continuous 6-hour block of teaching, has resulted in a change to timings, from September 2025 the Nursery Day will run from 8.30am- 2.30pm (including lunchtime). Parents may collect their children at 2.30pm when the free entitlement ends.

We can provide an extended provision (from 2.30pm – 3.15pm each day for an additional charge of £7.50 per day, per child, per week.

  • Parents must notify us if they wish book a place from 2.30pm – 3.15pm, via email to admissions@stmarysinfschool.org.uk  as soon as possible.
  • Once made it will not be possible to change this decision due to staffing ratios.
  • Payments must be made in advance, invoices will be issued at the start of term, on a monthly basis.
  • Please note no refunds will be made for non-attendance.
  • Failure to pay in advance for this session may result in your place being rescinded.

Before or Afterschool wraparound care facilities for Nursery pupils

We are not able to offer any before school wraparound care facility for Nursery pupils.

Attendance in one of our Nursery classes does not give priority for a place in Reception at the school and a separate application for a starting school/Reception place must be made directly to the London Borough of Sutton.

Children will be eligible for consideration for entry to Nursery from the term after their third birthday.

Application 2025 - 2026

Applications for Nursery 2025 - 2026 closed on 15th January 2025.

You can still apply for Nursery September 2025/2026 by downloading, completing and returning the Nursery Application 2025/2026, Admission Administration Document and a copy of your child's (short) Birth Certificate and Proof of Address (No longer than 3 months old). 

  • Catholic children should submit a Certificate of Catholic Practice (CCP) or a copy of the Baptismal certificate or letter of reception into the Catholic Church, as relevant. Please refer to Appendix 4: Evidence of Catholic Practice.
  • Baptised children from Eastern Orthodox Churches should submit a copy of the Baptismal certificate for the child and evidence of membership.
  • Those of other faiths should submit a certificate of Baptism/dedication and/ evidence of membership.

We will contact you if/when placements becomes available.

2026 - 2027 Intake:

Open Days - 2026/2027 Intake

The best way to find out about our school is to come and see us. 

We welcome visits to our school before application and hold open days on a monthly basis throughout the year, where small groups of parents/carers may visit for a tour.

This will give you the opportunity to see our schools on a typical day and to ask any questions as you walk around.

 Nursery Admissions 2026/27:

Please submit The Nursery Application Form (found below) and either a Certificate of Practice, Baptism Certificate and the Admissions  Administration Document (Found below) during this transition year.

Children born between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023 are due to start Nursery in September 2026.

Applications for Nursery Class are made by completing the Nursery Application form and Admissions Administration Document (found below) and a copy of your child's (short) Birth Certificate and Proof of Address (No longer than 3 months old).

Our Nursery class admits children in the academic year of their fourth birthday.  The academic year runs from September to August.  Parents need to apply the year before admission, in the academic year of their child's third birthday between September and 15th January.

  • Applications open and will be available to download, complete and return from our school website from 1st September 2025
  • Applications close on 15th January 2026
  • Nursery applications are announced in March 2026
